What
do CLEARCorps members do?
Education:
Members inform and educate the community about the health hazard
posed by lead dust and about methods for reducing the risk of lead
dust exposures.
Cleaning:
Using special detergents, cleaning
agents and equipment, teams clean housing
units completely: washing floors, windows,
and any other surfaces that can hold dust.
Paint
Stabilization: Teams repair and repaint areas where paint is
peeling, chipping, and deteriorating.
Carpentry:
Members reduce the risk of exposure to lead dust through measures
such as installing windows, fixing friction areas, or capping window
wells.
Evaluation:
After 6 months and 12 months, housing units are retested for lead
dust and the team continues to conduct education.
