Home Diagnostics
Using state-of-the-art technical equipment and procedures, an SRC energy auditor completes a thorough analysis of your home’s energy characteristics and performance. After we diagnose energy deficiencies, we write up detailed recommendations and construction specifications.

Ice dams and cold, drafty rooms
The SRC energy auditor performs a blower door test to locate places where outside air leaks into your home. Then we inspect your walls and attic for insulation levels, and check for attic bypasses—prime culprits in causing ice dams. In certain cases we use an ifrared scanner to “see” areas in your home where insulation is missing.

Moisture problems, mold and mildew
We conduct an inspection and perform diagnostic testing to find the source of moisture problems in your home. We analyze mold and mildew growth by looking at key sites throughout your house that may indicate current or potential problems. Ventilation is assessed in problem areas such as kitchens, basements, and bathrooms.

Indoor air quality, carbon monoxide
Ovens, furnaces, water heaters, and other gas appliances are checked for proper function and venting, ensuring that your family remains safe from deadly carbon monoxide and other combustion gases.

Custom Specifications
After your inspection is complete, SRC’s energy analyst summarizes diagnostic findings and writes detailed specifications for each step required to solve your home’s weatherization or indoor air quality problems. The prescription we provide is tailored to your home’s unique requirements, and can be used by SRC’s professional building staff to complete the job.
